Community Guidelines
Last updated: July 28, 2026
Our community
Gotta is for sharing genuine recommendations, requests, and collections with other people. Be honest, respect other users, and do not use Gotta to harm, exploit, deceive, or intimidate anyone.
These Community Guidelines apply to profiles, posts, comments, photos, locations, lists, messages attached to shares, and all other activity on Gotta. They are part of our Terms of Service.
Be respectful
Do not threaten, harass, bully, shame, stalk, intimidate, or encourage others to target a person. Do not publish content intended to degrade someone, celebrate their suffering, or make them fear for their safety.
Disagreement and criticism are allowed. Targeted abuse, credible threats, repeated unwanted contact, and coordinated harassment are not.
No hate or dehumanization
Do not attack, threaten, dehumanize, or promote discrimination or violence against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, serious disease, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or another protected characteristic.
Protect children
Gotta has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation ("CSAE"). Never create, upload, request, possess, link to, distribute, or facilitate:
- child sexual abuse material ("CSAM");
- grooming or sexualized communication with a child;
- sextortion, trafficking, or sexual exploitation of a child;
- sexualized depictions of children, including digitally created or altered imagery; or
- instructions, links, coded language, or communities intended to obtain or distribute such material.
When we become aware of apparent CSAM or child exploitation, we remove it, preserve relevant evidence, and report it when required by applicable law. We may also suspend accounts and cooperate with appropriate authorities.
Report suspected child exploitation using the in-app report tools or email hello@joingotta.com with the subject "URGENT Child Safety Report." Do not download, copy, forward, or attach suspected CSAM to an email. Send only the information needed to locate it on Gotta.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or the appropriate law-enforcement agency.
No nonconsensual intimate imagery
Do not post or threaten to post an intimate image of another person without their consent. This includes real images and digital forgeries, deepfakes, or other images created or altered with software or artificial intelligence. It also includes imagery originally created or shared consensually when the person did not consent to its publication on Gotta.
A person depicted in the imagery, their authorized representative, or a parent or guardian acting for a child may request removal without having a Gotta account. Email hello@joingotta.com with the subject "URGENT Intimate Image Removal" and provide:
- the URL, post identifier, username, or other location details;
- a brief description sufficient for us to identify the reported image;
- a statement that you are the person depicted or are authorized to act for that person;
- your physical or electronic signature, which may be your typed legal name;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the image was published without consent, together with any relevant information that helps us evaluate the request; and
- contact information where we can respond to the request.
Do not send us a copy of the intimate image unless we specifically and securely request it. For a valid request covered by the U.S. TAKE IT DOWN Act, Gotta will remove the reported image as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours after receiving the request, and will make reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies. Other requests will be handled within the period required by applicable law. We may request reasonably necessary information to verify a request and will use request information for safety, removal, recordkeeping, and legal compliance.
Respect privacy and personal safety
Do not reveal another person's home address, precise live location, private contact details, authentication information, financial information, government identifiers, medical records, or other sensitive personal information without authorization. Do not use Gotta to stalk, track, or facilitate physical harm.
Location tags and recommendations should not encourage trespassing, unsafe activity, or interference with private property.
No sexual exploitation or abusive sexual content
Do not use Gotta to facilitate sexual exploitation, trafficking, coercion, sexual violence, or unwanted sexual conduct. Pornographic or sexually explicit content is not permitted. Ordinary, non-graphic discussion of books, films, music, comedy, health, or other legitimate subjects is allowed when it is not exploitative or intended to sexually gratify.
Be authentic
Do not impersonate another person or organization, deceptively misrepresent your identity, fabricate endorsements, manipulate engagement, coordinate false reports, or conceal a material commercial relationship when disclosure is required.
Recommendations can be subjective, playful, or strongly opinionated, but they should not be used to defraud or materially deceive others.
No scams, spam, or platform manipulation
Do not:
- run scams, phishing schemes, or fraudulent promotions;
- post repetitive, irrelevant, or unsolicited promotions;
- buy, sell, or artificially inflate engagement;
- create accounts to evade restrictions or blocks;
- use unauthorized bots, scraping, bulk automation, or malicious code; or
- abuse reporting, sharing, following, or notification features.
No serious wrongdoing or graphic violence
Do not use Gotta to plan, instruct, encourage, or celebrate serious criminal activity, terrorism, physical violence, self-harm, or dangerous acts. Graphic gore or imagery whose primary purpose is to shock or glorify suffering is not permitted.
Context matters. Non-graphic discussion of news, history, safety, recovery, or fictional and creative works may be allowed when it does not promote harm.
Respect intellectual property
Post only content you created or have the right to share. Do not plagiarize, distribute unauthorized copies, or misuse another person's trademarks, artwork, photos, writing, or other protected material. Quotations, criticism, parody, and other uses may be lawful in some circumstances, but you remain responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights.
Reporting and blocking
Use Gotta's in-app tools to report a user, post, or comment and select the reason that best describes the problem. You can also block another user to limit interactions and visibility between accounts.
For a problem that cannot be reported in the app, email hello@joingotta.com. Include enough information to locate the account or content, but do not send unnecessary sensitive material.
Do not file knowingly false, duplicative, or malicious reports. A good-faith report does not violate these Guidelines merely because we ultimately determine that the reported content may remain.
How we enforce these Guidelines
We consider the content, context, severity, potential harm, account history, and available evidence. Depending on the circumstances, we may:
- limit visibility or prevent content from being posted;
- remove content or disable a feature;
- warn the account holder;
- temporarily restrict or permanently suspend an account;
- preserve evidence or prevent re-upload of removed material; or
- notify affected people, service providers, or authorities when appropriate or legally required.
We may act against conduct outside Gotta when it provides reliable evidence of a serious safety risk, coordinated abuse, or misuse of the Services. We may take immediate action without advance notice in urgent or severe cases.
Questions and appeals
If you believe we took action by mistake, email hello@joingotta.com with the subject "Moderation appeal" and include your username, the affected content or decision, and why you believe it should be reconsidered.
We may update these Guidelines as Gotta, community risks, and legal requirements evolve. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
